Canada's Shanty Town

Most of the population of Canada lives a very rich to middle class style of living as taking a look around at houses, cars and life styles and even the related statistics support this claim. The poor have access to a lot of resources provided to them by the government and other social agencies to the point that some people make a pretty good and comfortable living doing nothing but live off the avails handed down to them.

However, there is yet another class of people who are pretty much invisible to social help and belong to none of these 3 well known classes. I am sure some sociologist has a name for it. I just call them Shanty Town dwellers. These residents work hard, 6 or 7 days a week, sometimes several jobs. receive minimum wage or just a little bit more and don't qualify for any help from government because they are healthy and working. In fact the government sticks it to them hard because of those very reasons; healthy and hard working, so they get nothing but pay it all. They can't afford a vacation, are up to their eyeballs in debt, have no chance of taking time off work to receive new schooling or learn trades and under the thumbs of the government, they pay and pay and pay from income tax to goods and services taxes to city services to health care and the list goes on and on. The last thing on their list of expenses would be a coat of paint to improve their weathered shanty town walls!

Uh, Shanty Town dwellers of Canada, you know who you are. This one is for you!
